‘Let the good times roll’: billionaire Elon Musk tweets on first morning as new Twitter boss

“The bird is set free,” Musk tweeted on Friday after the end of the Twitter acquisition and the dismissal of four of the social media giant’s top managers, including Agrawal, Vijay Gadde’s legal director, Ned Segal’s chief financial officer and Sean Edgett’s general counsel.

Newyork: “Let the good times roll,” billionaire Elon Musk tweeted on Friday, hours after he finalized Twitter’s $ 44 billion acquisition and started as the new owner of the social media giant, firing its top management including CEO Paraga Agrawala .

Spoiler alert. Let the good times roll, ”Musk, 51, tweeted on Friday morning after the end of Thursday night with his Twitter takeover.

“Today I’m going to dig deeper,” Musk said in response to a tweet from a user called “Catturd” who tweeted that he would be tweeting the message “every day to see if anything changes. For now, I’m still shadow banned, ghost banned, search banned, and Twitter removed 1,200 followers today – as usual. Nothing has changed – I will file a report tomorrow. ” Musk, a self-proclaimed “freedom of speech absolutist,” has criticized Twitter’s management and moderation policies.

“At least one of the executives who were fired was escorted from the Twitter office,” reported the New York Times.

The closing of the deal removes the cloud of uncertainty that hung over Twitter’s business, employees and shareholders for much of the year, CNN commented.

After initial approval to buy the company in April, Musk spent months trying to get out of the deal, first citing concerns about the number of bots on the platform and later allegations raised by a company’s informant.

Agrawal, 38, was appointed Twitter CEO in November last year after social networking co-founder Jack Dorsey stepped down.

Agrawal, a graduate of IIT Mumbai and Stanford, joined Twitter more than a decade ago when the company had fewer than 1,000 employees.

“Agrawal, who was appointed chief executive of Twitter last year, has clashed” with Musk “publicly and privately in recent months on the acquisition,” the NYT report said.

Musk also “singled out” Gadde, 48, “by criticizing her for her role in content moderation decisions within the company,” he added.
