The micro chitty scheme of Rs 15,000 will be undertaken by KSFE for Kudumbashree. Beneficiaries of the scheme must pay a monthly instalment of Rs 500 for 30 months. If 10 instalments are paid without fail, KSFE will reward the consumer with next instalment of Rs 500. In this manner, KSFE will pay Rs 1500 for the beneficiaries who make the payments on time.

Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr Thomas Isaac said the project aims to provide two lakh laptops within three months.
KSFE will distribute the fund needed to purchase a laptop on the third month of joining the chitty. IT department will issue a tender via Kudumbashree to select the laptop distributors. Once the chit completes the maturity period, the amount spent on the laptop will be deducted from it and the balance amount will be given to the beneficiary. Kudumbashree unit which adds beneficiaries to the scheme will get 2 per cent commission of each installment.

Local self-governing bodies, SC, ST department and fisheries department are allowed to give subsidy to purchase a laptop. The government is also mulling over to consider allowing MLAs to grant subsidy from their fund. The amount of subsidy should be paid at KSFE. On the basis of this, the the number of instalments will be reduced. Public representatives are also allowed to grant more subsidies through sponsors.
