KSUM to launch RINK digital platform on Wednesday

Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is launching this Wednesday a digital platform that will bring together research institutions, nascent firms, investors, industry and government agencies to facilitate commercial spaces for cutting-edge research products.

Called Research Innovation Network (RINK), the endeavour, which envisions translation of research products into successful commercial ventures, will be inaugurated by Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council Chairman Dr K M Abraham.

Mr C Balagopal, founder of Terumo Penpol, will deliver the keynote address at the February 24 function slated to begin at 2.30 pm. Registrations can be made at www.bit.ly/rinklaunch, where one can watch the event live as well.

RINK (rink.startupmission.in), as an ambitious initiative, seeks to bring in ideas and innovations to the next level of business. The platform has been designed in such a manner that industry and start-ups get deeper insights about the latest research activities and projects in the research institutions of Kerala, organisers said.

RINK strives to support researchers to transform their research products into a successful entrepreneurship. Utilizing the research potential of Kerala, the platform provides an interdisciplinary collaborative space for research institutions, startups and industry. As a decisive agent between the dynamic industrial world and research fraternity, the mission is to transform Kerala into the country’s innovation capital, a top KSUM official revealed.

Kerala, with a network of research institutions, proactive government policies, specialized universities and availability of talents, intends to build an innovation-led economy. RINK aims to translate some of the path-breaking innovative research knowledge happening in the labs into commercially viable products and services, thereby spur an economic growth.

KSUM is the nodal agency of the Kerala government for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.
