New Riyadh Airport: King Salman International’s Design and Construction Contracts Finalized

Riyadh: The design and construction contracts for the King Salman International Airport, set to be the world’s largest airport, have been finalized. On Thursday, agreements were signed under the auspices of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), with contracts encompassing architecture, engineering, construction, and air traffic management services.

The airport development project is a key component of Riyadh’s transformation into a major global and regional travel hub. It aims to provide a modern, efficient gateway for both travelers and cargo in the region. Spanning 57 square kilometers, the airport will feature multiple terminals and six runways.

The master plan for the airport has been developed by the firm Foster & Partners. The design is intended to reflect Riyadh’s unique character while offering an exceptional travel experience for passengers. The airport is set to enhance Saudi Arabia’s cultural and economic landscape, aligning with the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The new King Salman International Airport is expected to play a pivotal role in the country’s ambitious goals for economic diversification and increased global connectivity. The development team is committed to delivering a world-class airport experience, integrating advanced technology and sustainable practices.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman initially unveiled the master plan for the King Salman International Airport in November 2022.
