Our Correspondent

A Keralite expatriate and the eldest of his three daughters drowned off Sharjah Corniche beach during the family’s visit to the country.

The tragedy happened when the family were on an outing. Sharjah Police confirmed the accident and said the father was trying to rescue his daughter Amal, 18, when he too was caught in the high waves and drowned. Three other members of the family who were caught in the rough seas were rescued and taken to hospital; they are out of danger.

Ismail T. C, 47, a native of Kozhikode district in Kerala, was working with a public entity in Dubai. He had sent his family back home over a year ago. The wife and daughters had come for a visit a week ago.

Ismail’s wife and younger daughters are devastated. They are currently trying to repatriate the mortal remains of the deceased by Sunday.
