Kerala’s COVID-19 cases remains unabated

Kerala on January 23 reported 6,960 new Covid cases, informed Health Minister KK Shailaja in a press statement. 5,283 people were cured of the disease.

Of the new cases, 6,339 had contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 499 people remains unidentified.

The test positivity rate was at 11.40 percent.

One UK returnee tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 69 UK returnees tested positive for the virus infection. 45 of them have recovered. Ten among the patients have been identified with the mutant virus strain. 61,066 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

23 deaths have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has reached 3,587.

73 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state.
