Kerala to get tough on quarantine violators

Web desk 27/05/2020

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the police would conduct inspections at the household level to check the violation of quarantine.

The State government would also raise a voluntary force to help the police in carrying out random checks. The police and civilian patrols would ensure that people adhered to social distancing measures.

At a meeting of legislators and members of parliament via video conferencing on May 26 the chief minister warned that the cases of COVID-19 would shoot up if citizens took the lockdown relaxation for granted.

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala and former chief minister Oommen Chandy attended the meeting.
