Kerala sees 3,792 new COVID-19 cases on Feb 27

Kerala on February 27 reported 3,792 new Covid-19 cases, Health Minister K. K. Shailaja said. The test positivity rate was recorded at 5.14 percent.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Kozhikode – 519, Thrissur – 416, Ernakulam – 415, Kollam – 411, Malappuram – 388, Alappuzha – 308, Pathanamthitta – 270, Thiruvananthapuram – 240, Kottayam – 236, Kannur – 173, Kasaragod – 148, Palakkad – 115, Wayanad – 82 and Idukki – 71. Meanwhile, none of the UK returnees tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 94 UK returnees tested positive for the virus infection. 82 of them have recovered.

So far, 11 patients have been identified with the mutant virus strain. 73,710 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 1,14,13,515 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Trunat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.

Eighteen deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has touched 4,182. 112 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state.

3,418 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 236 persons remains unidentified. The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Kozhikode – 497, Thrissur – 404, Ernakulam – 390, Kollam – 402, Malappuram – 365, Alappuzha – 304, Pathanamthitta – 240, Thiruvananthapuram – 175, Kottayam – 223, Kannur – 105, Kasaragod – 119, Palakkad – 52, Wayanad – 79 and Idukki – 63. 26 health workers also tested positive. Among them 7 were from Kannur, 4 each from Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, 2 each from Kollam and Ernakulam, 1 each from Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kasaragod.

Meanwhile, 4,650 recoveries were reported today. The district-wise statistics of recoveries is: Thiruvananthapuram – 394, Kollam – 279, Pathanamthitta – 468, Alappuzha – 578, Kottayam – 411, Idukki – 266, Ernakulam – 516, Thrissur – 385, Palakkad – 160, Malappuram – 368, Kozhikode – 326, Wayanad – 96, Kannur – 303 and Kasaragod – 100.

There are 50,514 active Covid-19 cases in the state. 10,01,164 people have recovered from the disease. 2,13,247 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,05,765 are under home/institutional quarantine and 7,482 people are in hospitals. 811 people were taken to hospitals today.

Three new hotspots were identified February 27 while 4 places were removed from the list. Currently, there are 369 hotspots in the state.
