Kerala reports 5,692 COVID-19 cases on April 12

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 5,692 people in Kerala on April 12. The district-wise break-up of number of people affected were Kozhikode 1,010, Ernakulam 779, Malappuram 612, Kannur 536, Thiruvananthapuram 505, Kottayam 407, Alappuzha 340, Thrissur 320, Kollam 282, Kasaragod 220, Palakkad 206, Idukki 194, Pathanamthitta 148 and Wayanad 133 districts.

 

One person from the UK confirmed COVID-19 within the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 112 people from the United Kingdom (104), South Africa (7) and Brazil (1). Of these, 107 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

During the last 24 hours, 45,417 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 12.53. A total of 1,38,14,258 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

It has been confirmed today that 11 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 4794.

Today, 188 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 5088 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 393 is not clear. Kozhikode 989, Ernakulam 710, Malappuram 596, Kannur 438, Thiruvananthapuram 337, Kottayam 381, Alappuzha 329, Thrissur 305, Kollam 275, Kasaragod 207, Palakkad 88, Idukki 189, Pathanamthitta 131 and Wayanad 113 were affected by the disease.

A total of 23 health workers were affected by the disease. Health workers in Kannur 6, Kozhikode 4, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur 3, Kollam, Palakkad, Kasaragod 2 and Wayanad 1 were affected.

The test results of 2,474 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 144, Kollam 167, Pathanamthitta 68, Alappuzha 196, Kottayam 337, Idukki 46, Ernakulam 137, Thrissur 207, Palakkad 130, Malappuram 253, Kozhikode 425, Wayanad 17, Kannur 303 and Kasaragod 44 were negative today. With this, 47,596 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 11,20,174 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 1,75,856 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,68,827 are under home / institutional quarantine and 7,029 in hospitals. A total of 1270 people were admitted to the hospital today.

Today there are 12 new hotspots and no area is excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 403 hotspots.
