A total of 3,254 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Kerala on February 28(Sunday). The test positivity rate was recorded at 5.18 percent.

None of the UK returnees tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 94 UK returnees tested positive for the virus infection. 82 of them have recovered. So far, 11 patients have been identified with the mutant virus strain.
62,769 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 1,14,76,284 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Trunat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
Fifteen deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has touched 4,197.
Test results from Alappuzha NIV are awaited to confirm other suspected Covid deaths. 88 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state.

Among them 5 were from Kannur, 4 each from Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, 2 each from Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kasaragod and 1 each from Pathanamthitta and Wayanad.
Meanwhile, 4,333 recoveries were reported on Sunday. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 314, Kollam – 293, Pathanamthitta – 578, Alappuzha – 390, Kottayam – 269, Idukki – 217, Ernakulam – 476, Thrissur – 355, Palakkad – 188, Malappuram – 387, Kozhikode – 351, Wayanad – 134, Kannur – 232 and Kasaragod – 149.
There are 49,420 active Covid-19 cases in the state. 10,05,497 people have recovered from the disease. 2,11,044 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,03,729 are under home/institutional quarantine and 7,315 people are in hospitals. 790 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
No new hotspot was identified on Sunday while 2 places were removed from the list. Currently, there are 367 hotspots in the state
