Kerala reported 2,707 new COVID cases and 5,258 recoveries on Dec 14. With this, the total number of active cases in the state stands at 6,72,037. The state also registered 4,481 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the Health department informed in a press statement. So far 6,11,600 people have been cured of the virus in the state.
Of the new cases, 2,291 contracted the virus through contact, out of which the source of 328 cases were unknown. As many as 51 infected persons came from abroad outside the state.
Twenty-four COVID deaths were confirmed in the state. With this, COVID death toll rose to 2,647.
The district wise distribution of positive cases is: Malappuram – 441, Ernakulam – 343, Thrissur – 268, Kottayam – 252, Thiruvananthapuram – 222, Alappuzha – 220, Kozhikode – 219, Palakkad – 190, Kollam – 160, Kannur – 136, Pathanamthitta – 133, Wayanad – 61, Idukki – 47 and Kasaragod – 15.
The district wise distribution of contact cases is: Malappuram – 422, Ernakulam – 254, Thrissur – 252, Kottayam – 233, Thiruvananthapuram – 161, Alappuzha – 197, Kozhikode – 196, Palakkad – 90, Kollam – 158, Kannur – 106, Pathanamthitta – 107, Wayanad – 58, Idukki – 44 and Kasaragod – 13.
The district wise statistics of negative cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 198, Kollam – 306,
Pathanamthitta – 213, Alappuzha – 302, Kottayam – 352, Idukki – 48, Ernakulam – 582, Thrissur – 575, Palakkad – 291, Malappuram – 822, Kozhikode – 410, Wayanad – 154, Kannur – 172 and Kasaragod- 56.
Thirty seven health workers also tested covid positive.
A total of 3,10,107 people are under observation in various districts. Of these, 2,96,920 are under home or institutional quarantine and 13,187 are in hospitals. 1,394 people were admitted in hospitals on this day.
Currently 57,640 people are undergoing treatment in the state.
31,893 tests were done on December 14.So far, 69,99,865 samples have been sent for testing. The test positivity rate is at 8.49 percent.
On December 14, one more regions have been converted into hotspots and four have been excluded from the list taking the total number of hotspots to 433 in the state.
