Kerala reports 22,414 fresh COVID-19 cases on April 21; 22 dead

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has called for extra caution while he announced that COVID-19 has been confirmed for 22,414 people in Kerala today. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Ernakulam 3,980, Kozhikode 2,645, Thrissur 2,293, Kottayam 2,140, Thiruvananthapuram 1,881, Malappuram 1,874, Kannur 1,554, Alappuzha 1,172, Palakkad 1,120, Kollam 943, Pathanamthitta 821, Idukki 768, Kasaragod 685 and Wayanad 538.

A total of 3,00,971 samples were collected on Friday and Saturday from different parts of the State as part of the group test. Of these, 1,21,763 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 18.41. A total of 1,45,93,000 samples have been tested so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.

No one from the UK, South Africa or Brazil has confirmed COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 116 people from the UK (108), South Africa (7) and Brazil (1). Of these, 112 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

It has been confirmed today that 22 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 5,000.

Today, 206 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 20,771 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 1332 is not clear. Ernakulam 3,958, Kozhikode 2,590, Thrissur 2,262, Kottayam 1,978, Thiruvananthapuram 1,524, Malappuram 1,804, Kannur 1,363, Alappuzha 1,155, Palakkad 505, Kollam 933, Pathanamthitta 783, Idukki 736, Kasaragod 651 and Wayanad 529 were affected by the disease.

A total of 105 health workers were affected by the disease. Kottayam 36, Kannur 21, Thiruvananthapuram 10, Kasaragod 9, Thrissur 8, Palakkad 6, Kollam 3, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad 2 were affected.

The test results of 5431 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 552, Kollam 450, Pathanamthitta 449, Alappuzha 487, Kottayam 379, Idukki 142, Ernakulam 700, Thrissur 452, Palakkad 208, Malappuram 165, Kozhikode 788, Wayanad 89, Kannur 439 and Kasaragod 131 were tested negative today. With this, 1,35,631 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 11,54,102 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 3,20,237 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,05,836 are under home / institutional quarantine and 14,401 in hospitals. A total of 2,580 people were admitted to the hospital today.

Today there are 18 new hotspots. No area is excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 511 hotspots.
