Kerala reports 1,970 new COVID-19 cases on March 16

COVID-19 has been confirmed in 1,970 in Kerala on March 16. The district-wise break-up of the infected are Ernakulam 238, Kozhikode 237, Kottayam 217, Kannur 176, Thrissur 166, Thiruvananthapuram 165, Kollam 163, Pathanamthitta 126, Alappuzha 103, Malappuram 102, Idukki 81, Kasargod 78, Palakkad 69 and Wayanad 49.
COVID-19 was confirmed to be from South Africa within the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 104 people from the UK (99), South Africa (4) and Brazil (1). Of these, 91 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
In the last 24 hours, 60,974 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 3.23. total of 1,23,90,578 samples have been sent for testing so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.
COVID-19 was confirmed to have led to the death of 15 people in the past few days. This brings the total death toll to 4,422.
Seventy of those diagnosed with the disease today are from outside the State and 1,742 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 145 is not clear. Ernakulam 229, Kozhikode 231, Kottayam 199, Kannur 137, Thrissur 164, Thiruvananthapuram 102, Kollam 162, Pathanamthitta 107, Alappuzha 101, Malappuram 96, Idukki 76, Kasargod 67, Palakkad 25 and Wayanad 46 were affected by contact.
Thirteen health workers were infected. Kannur 4, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Palakkad 2 each, Pathanamthitta, Wayanad and Kasaragod 1 each were affected by the disease.
The test results of 2,884 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 183, Kollam 33, Pathanamthitta 141, Alappuzha 159, Kottayam 155, Idukki 97, Ernakulam 752, Thrissur 216, Palakkad 62, Malappuram 277, Kozhikode 365, Wayanad 35, Kannur 319 and Kasaragod 90 had negative results today. With this, 26,127 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 10,63,444 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 1,43,461 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 1,39,309 are under home / institutional quarantine and 4,152 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 449 people were admitted to hospitals today.
Today there are three new hotspots. No area is excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 355 hotspots.
