Kerala reports 18,257 COVID-19 cases on April 18

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 18,257 people in the state today. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Ernakulam 2,835, Kozhikode 2,560, Thrissur 1,780, Kottayam 1,703, Malappuram 1677, Kannur 1,451, Palakkad 1,077, Thiruvananthapuram 990, Kollam 802, Alappuzha 800, Idukki 682, Pathanamthitta 673, Kasaragod 622 and Wayanad 605.

A total of 3,00,971 samples were collected on Friday and Saturday from different parts of the State as part of the group test and 1,08,898 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Test results of the remaining samples will be available in the coming days. The test positivity rate is 16.77. A total of 1,42,71,741 samples have been tested so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.

 

No one from the UK, South Africa or Brazil has confirmed COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. Kovid 19 has so far been confirmed by 113 people from the UK (105), South Africa (7) and Brazil (1). Of these, 112 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

 

It has been confirmed today that 25 deaths in the last few days were due to Kovid-19. This brings the total death toll to 4,929. Today, 269 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. A total of 16,762 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 1159 is not clear. Ernakulam 2741, Kozhikode 2512, Thrissur 1747, Kottayam 1530, Malappuram 1597, Kannur 1273, Palakkad 512, Thiruvananthapuram 782, Kollam 796, Alappuzha 793, Idukki 656, Pathanamthitta 630, Kasaragod 602 and Wayanad 591 were affected by the disease.

Sixty-seven health workers were affected by the disease. Kottayam 25, Kannur 14, Wayanad and Kasaragod 6 each, Ernakulam and Thrissur 3 each, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Idukki, Palakkad 2 each, Pathanamthitta and Kozhikode 1 each.

The test results of 4,565 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 651, Kollam 256, Pathanamthitta 165, Alappuzha 387, Kottayam 316, Idukki 70, Ernakulam 355, Thrissur 428, Palakkad 172, Malappuram 247, Kozhikode 564, Wayanad 86, Kannur 714 and Kasaragod 154 had negative results today. With this, 93,686 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 11,40,486 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 2,37,036 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,25,683 are under home / institutional quarantine and 11,353 in hospitals. 1916 people were admitted to hospitals today.

Today there are 10 new hotspots and two areas were excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 460 hotspots.
