Kerala reports 13,644 COVID-19 cases on April 19

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 13,644 people in the state today. Outbreaks were reported in Kozhikode 2022, Ernakulam 1,781, Malappuram 1,661, Thrissur 1,388, Kannur 1175, Thiruvananthapuram 981, Kottayam 973, Alappuzha 704, Kasaragod 676, Palakkad 581, Idukki 469, Kollam 455, Pathanamthitta 390 and Wayanad 388.
A total of 3,00,971 samples were collected on Fridays and Saturdays from different parts of the state as part of the group test. 87,275 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Test results of the remaining samples will be available in the coming days. The test positivity rate is 15.63. A total of 1,43,59,016 samples have been tested so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.
COVID-19 was confirmed within the last 24 hours by 3 people from the UK. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 116 people from the UK (108), South Africa (7) and Brazil (1). Of these, 112 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
It has been confirmed today that 21 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 4950.
Today, 230 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 12,550 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 826 is not clear. Kozhikode 1,996, Ernakulam 1,751, Malappuram 1,615, Thrissur 1361, Kannur 990, Thiruvananthapuram 768, Kottayam 898, Alappuzha 696, Kasaragod 620, Palakkad 226, Idukki 457, Kollam 451, Pathanamthitta 342 and Wayanad 379 were affected by the disease.
The disease affected 38 health workers. Health workers from Kannur 16, Kasaragod 6, Thiruvananthapuram 5, Thrissur 4, Kollam and Kozhikode 2 each, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Palakkad 1 each were affected.
The test results of 4305 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 497, Kollam 438, Pathanamthitta 87, Alappuzha 380, Kottayam 272, Idukki 53, Ernakulam 350, Thrissur 502, Palakkad 165, Malappuram 169, Kozhikode 481, Wayanad 75, Kannur 658 and Kasaragod 178 were found to be negative today. With this, 1,03,004 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 11,44,791 have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 2,48,541 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,47,158 are under home / institutional quarantine and 12,281 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 2506 people were admitted to hospitals today.
Today there are nine new hotspots and an area was excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 468 hotspots.
