Kerala records highest single-day spike with 4,531 COVID-19 cases on September 17

Kerala’s daily COVID-19 numbers crossed the 4,000 mark for the first time on Thursday with 4,531 new infections. 2737 were cured from the infection.

Out of the total cases reported 3,730 contracted the disease through contact. Among them the source of infection of 351 is yet to be traced.

Among the newly infected there are 71 health workers. The state has reported 1,22,394 Covid-19 cases so far, out of which 87,341 person recovered.

Ten deaths were also recorded, taking the official toll to 490.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: 820 from Thiruvananthapuram , 218 from Kollam, 136 from Pathnamthitta, 367 from Alappuzha, 204 from Kottayam, 104 from Idukki, 383 from Ernakulam, 296 from Thrissur, 241 from Palakkad, 351 from Malappuram, 319 from Kozhikode, 107 from Wayanad, 260 from Kannur and 236 from Kasaragod.
