With 1,167 people testing positive for COVID-19 on July 28, the total number of cases touched 20,894. Another alarming number of 889 cases were infected through contact in which 55 were unknown cases. Thirty-three health workers were also infected.
Of the total infected 122 people arrived from abroad and 96 from other States. The total number of hotspots reached 486 and 679 people were cured of the infection on the day.
The district-wise figures of the positive cases are 227 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 118 in Kottayam district, 112 in Malappuram district, 109 in Thrissur district, 95 in Kollam district, 86 in Palakkad district, 84 in Alappuzha district, 70 Ernakulam district, 67 in Kozhikode district, 63 in Pathanamthitta, 53 Wayanad district, in 43 Kannur district, 38 Kasaragod district and 7 in Idukki district.
