Kerala CM to launch Accelerator for Electronics Technologies for start-ups

Our Correspondent

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Accelerator for Electronics Technologies (ACE) being set up to support startups in their scaling-up stage and develop themselves into sustainable enterprises at Technopark here on November 2.

ACE is a joint initiative of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), which is the premier research and development institution of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Govt. of India.

Mr. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Co-operation, Tourism and Devaswoms, will preside over the online function to be held at 11.45 am. Mr. K Mohammed Y Safirulla, Secretary, IT & Electronics, Government. of Kerala; Dr. Hemant Darbari, Director General, CDAC; and Mr. Sasi Pilacheri Meethal, CEO, KSUM, will also be present.

Startups, which are to be provided access to the physical and intellectual infrastructure at the facility, will also be mentored by CDAC for a specific period. This accelerator will work complementary to the KSUM-supported incubator in electronics technologies established in Kochi with the assistance of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Govt. of India.

The prime objective of the ACE is to develop itself as a leading accelerator in electronics technologies in the country, which will provide a nurturing and enabling environment for development of high-tech startups in electronics and allied disciplines.

The accelerator will also facilitate software infrastructure for supporting research and development of high-end electronic systems, tools and services. Set up in an area of around 50,000 sq. ft, the facility will provide close to 1,000 direct employment opportunities in the state.

Notwithstanding the COVID-19 aftermath, there is a large demand for the scale-up space by KSUM in Technopark and close to 20 startups have already been allotted space. The plug and play space will be offered at subsidized rates. The Future Technology Lab at the space will act as a catalyst for the accelerator programme.
