A total of 32 SSLC students who took examinations in Karnataka between June 25 and July 3 have tested positive for the coronavirus. According to the data released by the government, eighty other students are in home quarantine.
The SSLC Examinations was conducted after a lot of opposition from both public and the students’ parents. Most of the opposition leaders attacked the government over playing with the lives of the students in this pandemic situation. However, the state government was reluctant to postpone the exam and was confident that social distancing, thermal testing and sanitisation during the examinations would help prevent the spread of coronavirus. The state government stuck in its decision and conducted hassle-free examinations.
The report from the government stated that 3,911 students who did not attend the examination were in a containment zone. A total of 863 students did not attended the exams because they were unwell.
The SSLC exams was originally slated between March 27 and April 9. However, due to the pandemic and nationwide lockdown, the exams were postponed.
