IOC launches 100 octane petrol

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has launched the world’s first 100 octane premium petrol. Federal Oil, Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has unveiled a new premium petrol brand called XSP100.

Tarun Kapoor, Secretary, Oil and Gas, Srikanth Madhava Vaidya, Indian Oil Chairman, Dr. SSV Ramakumar, Indian Oil R&D Director, and Gurmeet Singh, Marketing Director, Indian Oil, were present.

Octane petrol is available in only a few countries globally, the Minister said. The XSP100 was launched with the aim of providing the best energy service to all.

The new petrol was developed by scientists using indigenous technology. The minister said the new product is also part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Designed for luxury cars and motorbikes, the XP100 is an ultra-modern, ultra-premium product, said Mr. Vaidya. It gives the vehicle high power and excellent performance.

The XP100 premium grade petrol is manufactured at the Mathura refinery using Octa Max technology developed by the company.

91 octane petrol is currently available in India. 100 octane petrol offers faster acceleration, better driving and fuel efficiency. The new product comes with IS 2796 specification. 100 octane petrol is available in only six countries, including Germany and the United States.
