The ship will arrive in Tuticorin on Sunday with 700 Indians.  This is the third voyage of the maritime mission. Commandant of the Maldives’ Coast Guard, Colonel Mohammed Saleem, had arrived to evacuate the Indians.
The ship will observe strict COVID protocols on board and is expected to reach Tuticorin on June 7.
People from different states are on the ship. The evacuated personnel will be disembarked at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu and entrusted to the care of State authorities.
Jalashwa had undertaken two rescue missions from the Maldives to Kochi. About 1,500 people were brought to Kochi. The service was launched last week from Sri Lanka to Tuticorin. The Navy spokesman said, with this trip, Jalashwa will successfully bring back almost 2700 Indian citizens from the Maldives and Sri Lanka to Indian shores under the broader umbrella of the Indian Government’s Mission Vande Bharat.
