India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 90-lakh mark

The overall coronavirus tally in India crossed 90-lakh mark on Friday morning after the country recorded 45,882 new cases in 24 hours.

The latest figures by the Union Health Ministry, India’s COVID-19 tally reached 90,04,365. The death toll due to Covid-19 touched 1,13,162 after India saw 584 fatalities due to the disease.
The active cases in India stand at 4,43,794 . Over 84.28 lakh Indian have recovered from covid-19 so far since the outbreak.

While Maharashtra remains the top affected state in the country with 17,63,055 total cases, total fatalities in Delhi crossed 8,000-mark with total active cases at 43,221.

This is the thirteenth consecutive day when India reported less than 50,000 cases in a day. The last time daily new cases crossed the 50,000-threshold was on November 7.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 12,95,91,786 samples tested for COVID-19 up to November 19, of these, 10,83,397 samples were tested on November 19.

The Union Health Ministry said that India’s active caseload has fallen under 5 per cent and the new recoveries continue to overtake the daily new cases continuously for the past 47 days. It also said that the national coronavirus recovery rate now stands at 93.58 per cent.
