A sigh of relief for India as the country recorded highest single-day recoveries with over one lakh patients recovering in last 24 hours. This has resulted in the recovery rate touching 80.86%. Now, India tops the global figure of total recoveries.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said 93,356 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. Twelve states and UTs have registered recovery rate of more than the national average and 79 per cent of the new recovered cases are from 10 states and Union Territories.
India’s Covid-19 case tally crossed the 55-lakh mark on Tuesday with a spike of 75,083 new cases and 1,053 deaths in last 24 hours. The total case tally stands at 55,62,664 including 9,75,861 active cases. The number of those who have been cured, discharged or migrated is 44,97,868 while the death toll climbed to 88,935.
India’s coronavirus testing numbers also saw a dip with 9,33,185 Covid-19 samples being tested on Monday. With this, the total number of samples tested so far stands at 6,53,25,779, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the spread of the coronavirus in the United States was approaching over 200,000 on Monday, by the far the highest number of any nation.
