Indians in Bahrain mark Modi’s birthday with food cargo to Lebanon

From Putin to Oli, as wishes poured in from around the world and as Bollywood fraternity Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Shahid Kapoor, Salman Khan, and many more took to Twitter to wish the Prime Minister on his 70th birthday, a group of Indians silently made it very special day by sending 70 tons of food materials to the recent blast affected citizen of Lebanon.

 

A dozen prominent Indians in the Kingdom of Bahrain met Lebanese Ambassador to Bahrain Dr. Milad Nomour at his office on September 17 and handed over the documents of the cargo that will be sent to Lebanon to be distributed among the public for free through various NGO’s selected over a two weeks period of close due diligence.

The initiative labelled “From India to Lebanon with Love” is organised by the Bahrain-based Narendra Modi Institute of Yoga, which was formed an year ago to provide free yoga training to public at large.

The cargo consists of Sella basmati rice, chick peas, sun flower oil and tomato paste. Dr. Arun Kumar Prahraj, CEO of Dadabhai group, who was present at the function promised the Ambassador of more supplies in the coming months. Mr. Mahesh Devji, Managing Director of Devji Jewellers, while expressing his concern for the people of Lebanon, also urged the need to continue such noble initiatives in this time of a global recession to act as helping hands to the less fortunate.

To mark an additional solidarity with Lebanon in respect of the Prime Minister’s birthday, Dr Ranjith M.K, Chairman and Managing Director of Fame Technologies, presented E 365, a total E – learning platform for the students and teachers of Lebanon absolutely free of charges for the next one year.

 

The Indian Ladies wing was represented by Mrs. Kalpana Patil and Mrs. Kundan Shah. Also present were Priyanka, Krishnan K.P , Veerananda Kittappa, Sandhya Ashokan , Vijayan Kumaran and Sunil Kumar.
