Muscat: Indian Schools in Oman are set to enhance their curriculum by introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Financial Literacy for students from Class 5 onwards, as part of their strategic agenda for the 2025–27 term. This initiative aims to equip students with essential skills for the future.
The Financial Literacy program is being rolled out across all Indian Schools in Oman starting this week. It is designed to foster early awareness of financial principles, enabling students to manage personal and household finances effectively and sparking interest in finance as a potential career path.
The AI curriculum, scheduled for implementation immediately after the summer break, will provide students with foundational knowledge in machine learning, algorithms, and the responsible use of AI tools. This move sets a precedent for technology-led education in the region.
Syed Ahmad Salman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools Oman, emphasized the importance of these additions, stating, “The integration of AI into the curriculum marks a significant milestone. Our objective is not only to familiarize students with emerging technologies but also to nurture critical thinking, innovation, and digital fluency from a young age.”
In addition to curriculum enhancements, the Board is conducting an infrastructural audit to ensure equitable access to facilities for all students. Major development projects are underway at Indian School Muscat (Jibroo campus), Indian School Darsait, Indian School Seeb, Indian School Sur, and Indian School Salalah. Furthermore, feasibility studies have been initiated to establish new Indian Schools in Barka and Sinaw, aiming to expand access to quality education in underserved regions.
Recognizing the pivotal role of educators, the Board has commenced a Training Needs Assessment survey among teaching staff to identify key areas for professional development. A structured roadmap will be formulated based on these insights to enhance instructional quality across the network.
In a pioneering move, the Board has also approved the establishment of a Sports Academy under the supervision of the Sports Committee. This academy will nurture and train students with sporting potential, offering structured pathways to pursue careers in sports and related fields.
These comprehensive initiatives underscore the Board’s commitment to the holistic development of students, preparing them as global citizens equipped with critical thinking skills and digital fluency.
