Indian naval ship to bring Indians stranded in Iran to Gujarat

In the next phase of Operation Marine Sethu, naval ship Shardul has begun the process of transporting Indians from Iran’s Bandar Abbas port to Port Bandar in Gujarat, India.
The Indian Embassy in Teheran, after compiling a list of Indian citizens who must be brought home will send them to the ship after a health check-up.
Guidelines have been provided to observe social distance within the ship. Along with the service of health workers and doctors, shipments of medicines, masks and PPE kits have also been provided.

In addition, the Navy has equipped Shardul with advanced health equipment for those engaged in COVID-19 related activities.
The vessel will provide basic amenities and health facilities for passengers on board for sea journey to Porbandar. Isolation rooms are also provided for emergencies.

As even those who do not show symptoms of COVID-19 may have the viral infection and strict security measures have been put in place for those who do not have the disease.
The Gujarat government authorities will follow all procedures after the ship reaches Portbandar port.

The Indian Navy launched the ‘Samudra Setu’ mission on May 8, 2020, to repatriate Indians from overseas. The four Jalashwa and Magar ships have brought 2,874 Indians from Maldives and Sri Lanka to Kochi and Thoothukudi respectively.
