India-UAE flight suspension extended till May 14

The UAE has extended the restrictions placed on flights from India by 10 days till May 14. This follows the earlier April 25 to May 4 suspension of flights from India owing to the exponential spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.

Dubai-based Emirates told travel agents that “carriage of passengers from India to UAE is further extended till May 14. Passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days are not permitted to board from any point to the UAE.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad noted last week: “Following the latest UAE government directives, from 25 April 2021, passenger travel from India to the UAE has been suspended for 10 days, which may be extended. Etihad will continue to operate flights to India, carrying passengers both from our network and from Abu Dhabi. Etihad will not be permitted to carry passengers from India, however UAE nationals, Diplomatic Passport Holders & Official Passport Holders or those holding an Official Delegation Letter are exempted from the UAE entry restriction. These passengers will be subject to acceptance and quarantine conditions”.
But cargo flights can operate in both directions.

Nepal closes doors

The Indian embassy in Nepal has advised passengers not to travel to Kathmandu from India for the purpose for transiting to others parts of the world. It said that Nepal has restricted “arrival of foreigners intending to travel to third countries via Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and using TIA as transit airport from April 28, 2021, midnight till the next notice”.
“Indian nationals are advised accordingly to avoid travel to Nepal for the purposes of onward journeys to third countries because of restrictions after Wednesday (April 28).… Embassy is in contact with Nepalese authorities to facilitate travel of bona fide Indian nationals already in Nepal,” the Indian embassy stated. There are no restrictions on Indians who travelling to Kathmandu with Nepal as their final destination.

This will affect those who used the route to reach the UAE.
