India-Pakistan tensions: Dubai’s Emirates cancels flights

Dubai: Dubai’s flagship carrier, Emirates, has cancelled several flights to and from Pakistan due to the closure of northern Pakistan airspace and airports following military activity in the region.

The decision, announced in a travel advisory issued by the Dubai-based carrier, impacts services to multiple cities.

According to the update, which was last revised on May 7, the cancellations affect flights scheduled for May 7.

The cancelled flights include:

EK618 on May 6 from Dubai to Sialkot

EK619 on May 6 from Sialkot to Dubai

EK622 on May 6 from Dubai to Lahore

EK623 on May 7 from Lahore to Dubai

EK624 on May 6 from Dubai to Lahore

EK625 on May 7 from Lahore to Dubai

EK612 on May 6 from Dubai to Islamabad

EK613 on May 7 from Islamabad to Dubai

EK636 on May 6 from Dubai to Peshawar

EK63 on May 7 from Peshawar to Dubai

Emirates stated that passengers booked on connecting flights to Lahore, Sialkot, Islamabad, and Peshawar will not be accepted for travel until further notice.

Customers with cancelled flights have been advised not to proceed to the airport. These cancellations do not impact flights to and from Karachi; they operate as per their regular schedule.

The airline has recommended that customers check the latest information on their flights by visiting the flight status page on their website. Impacted passengers who booked directly with Emirates are urged to contact the airline.

The airline said it is closely monitoring the situation and remains in contact with relevant authorities regarding regional developments.

India said its “Operation Sindoor” struck “terrorist infrastructure” in both Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, a major escalation pushing the rivaling neighbors to the brink of a wider conflict. Pakistan’s military said the attack killed at least 26 civilians, according to Reuters.
