I will break my ties with Anurag Kashyap if he is found guilty, says Taapsee Pannu

It was around a few days back that actress Payal Ghosh claimed to have faced sexual harassment from popular Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap. Ghosh’s revelations spread like wildfire in Bollywood circuits, and several celebrities stood up in arms behind both these celebrities.

However, Taapsee Pannu, who is known for her bold stand defended Anurag Kashyap, and had claimed that the director is known for showing respect towards female colleagues. And now, in an interview given to Mumbai Mirror, Taapsee has revealed that she will be the first one to break her ties with Anurag if he is found guilty.

“Anurag has a lot of respect for women, never badmouths anyone even if that person hasn’t been kind to him in public. His is one of those rare sets where the number of women on the crew equals men, and they only have nice things to say about him. If someone has been harassed, let them initiate an investigation, let the truth come out. If he is found guilty, I’ll be the first person to break all ties with him,” said Taapsee.

In the meantime, Sona Mohapatra who has been raising her voice in the MeToo movement against music composer Anu Malik has now come forward in support of Payal Ghosh, and has slammed Taapsee Pannu for defending Anurag Kashyap.

In her recent tweet, Mohapatra claimed that Taapsee knows very little about Anurag Kashyap, and made it clear that his films usually portray women in a bad light.

“Read the statement made by Ms Tapsee Pannu about Anurag Kashyap being the ‘biggest feminist’ she knew & I honestly buckled over gobsmacked. Shows how little she knows. Anyone would see otherwise if you just watched his films & his portrayal of women,” wrote Mohapatra.
