MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Wednesday held the cabinet meeting at Al Barakah Palace.
During the meeting, His Majesty praised the efforts made by the Council, its committees and various government units in carrying out their responsibilities and roles, and the achievements and contributions made to the development, growth and advancement of the comprehensive development paths witnessed by the country at all levels.
His Majesty directed the Cabinet to continue focusing on the positive factors that stimulate economic growth, and to support the role of the private sector in benefiting from the partnership opportunities available for the programs and projects implemented by the government, in addition to the strategic economic and trade partnership agreements that the Sultanate of Oman has recently entered into with countries around the world.
His Majesty stressed stressed the importance of following up the implementation of the National Local Content Policy aimed at boosting Omani industries, encouraging the establishment of local projects, reducing imports, increasing exports, supporting related productive industries.
The Council of Ministers instructed the authorities concerned to follow up the implementation of the current five-year development plan, evaluate the extent to which its objectives have been achieved, the challenges facing its programs and complete the remaining projects.
The cabinet stressed the importance of including programs and projects within the 11th five-year development plan to implement the priorities and indicators of Oman Vision 2040 as planned, taking into account providing added value to the economy, job opportunities for citizens.
His Majesty the Sultan underlined the importance of cooperation and coordination among the authorities concerned in a way that fosters economic growth, generates job opportunities for citizens and improves the Sultanate of Oman’s indicators in all fields.
His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the positive results achieved in the health sector. HM hails the role of the Ministry of Health and its achievements in this field.
The Cabinet approved the establishment of the National Human Genome and Data Program (Omani Genome) at the Ministry of Health aimed at creating a genetic database for Omani society and expanding the areas of relevant research.
The Cabinet instructed the establishment of a national center for ophthalmology and eye surgery that accommodates the rendered services and keeps pace with the increasing demand for this service from members of society, with the introduction of the latest relevant technologies.
The Cabinet instructed launching a national program for early detection of the most common cancers among women by establishing 7 early detection units and expanding nuclear medicine services by establishing a radioisotope production facility and nuclear pharmacy.
HM The Sultan stressed the importance the authorities concerned following up the performance of the Social Protection Scheme, all its programs and evaluating them on a continuous basis.
The Cabinet stressed the importance of integrating efforts of authorities supervising the economic sectors that generate job opportunities in devising appropriate plans and mechanisms for replacement and localization in a way that accelerates national workforce employment.
HM The Sultan instructed the Cabinet to conduct necessary studies on social phenomena, the challenges facing the population structure and their social, economic and cultural impacts, and to develop specific programs and policies to find appropriate solutions to related challenges.
The Sultan affirmed the continuation of the Sultanate of Oman’s cooperation with all countries and in all fields to achieve common interests with them in accordance with the Oman’s well-established principles and constants.
