Google, YouTube and other Google services start to return after global outage

‘Something went wrong’- whoever accessed You Tube around 5pm on Monday, surely witnessed this error message with an image of a monkey holding a wrench,on their screens . The reason. Google services abruptly went down causing a global outage impacting hundreds of users. Among the services that were disrupted include Gmail, Google Search, YouTube, and Drive. The latest outage seems to be more intensive than the last one.

Downdetector, the website that tracks web outages, reported over 40,000 outage cases from around the world nearly 10 minutes after the outage began. YouTube and Gmail seem to have been worst hit globally, causing an uproar on Twitter about how Google services have left them high and dry especially on the first day of the week.

Most of the services are now back online. Users faced problems with all Google services, and were unable to access Gmail, YouTube and Google Docs during global outage.

YouTube is now fully back after an outage that lasted over an hour. The YouTube team confirmed via tweet saying: “We’re back up and running!”

The Google Workspace Status Dashboard also shows that most of Google’s apps and services are facing the issue, including Calendar, Sheets, Meet and Voice.

Back in November, You Tube went down in a worldwide outage. The video platform rectified the issue of a span of nearly two hours and users were informed via tweet that the services were fixed across all devices and YouTube services.
