Goodbye to COVID-19, female pilot ready to fly again

Air India woman pilot Bindu Sebastian who contracted COVID-19 has been discharged from Medical College Hospital in Ernakulam. She was discharged after specialised treatment and after two test results turned negative.

The woman pilot, a resident of Thevara, Ernakulam, was part of the Vande Bharat Mission, which brought in Non-Resident Indians stranded abroad. Bindu Sebastian said that she received the best treatment at the Ernakulam Medical College. She thanked the Department of Health and the Medical College of Ernakulam for their excellent treatment and care. She said that even if you have any minor symptoms, you should seek immediate treatment. Ms. Sebastian said she would happily be involved in such missions even in future.

Bindu Sebastian was involved in the mission to bring expatriates from the UAE to Kerala. An examination of a sample taken later confirmed Bindu Sebastian’s illness on May 31. He was immediately admitted to the Isolation Ward at the Medical College, Ernakulam.

State Minister for Health K.K. Shailaja has said that the role of the flight personnel in bringing the diaspora to the country was immense. Do not worry. The flight crews who fly out of the state have been imparted excellent training to combat COVID-19. She said that the instructions given by the Health Department must be strictly followed. Kerala was proud of all those including Bindu Sebastian who have been involved in the mission of bringing the NRIs back to the state. She also congratulated Sebastian on her recovery.

Vice Principal of the Medical College, Ernakulam and Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine. Fatehuddin, Medical Superintendent Peter Vazhayila, R.M.O. Dr. Ganesh Mohan, Professor of Medicine Jacob K. Jacob and Associate Professor Dr. B. Renimol and Nursing Superintendent Santi Augustine led the treatment.
