Girls outscore boys in SSLC exams in the UAE

Girls outscored boys in the UAE in the state Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations when the results were declared in Kerala on June 30. While 37 per cent of the girls secured A+, only 27 per cent of boys could get the same. Overall, 597 students had appeared for the examination.
Nine schools in the country are affiliated to SSLC. The Model School, Abu Dhabi had 53 students scoring A+ in all the papers of the total 72 who got the distinction in the UAE.
Some children who had to give the exam a miss this year since they tested positive for COVID-19 will take the Save a Year (SAY) exam later.
New Indian Model School in Sharjah and Dubai also secured 100 per cent pass. One student had to miss the exams due to quarantine requirements.
The SSLC exams were postponed midway due to Covid-19 restrictions, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics exams were conducted towards the end of May maintaining social distancing norms such as wearing masks and gloves, providing sanitisers in exam halls and disinfection drives at the centres.
