Four siblings killed, two injured in fire at Amman apartment attached to a mosque

Dubai: A devastating fire tore through a ground-floor apartment attached to a mosque in the Abu Alanda neighbourhood of southern Amman on Saturday, killing four siblings and injuring two others, authorities said.

The victims, aged between 5 and 10, died from severe burns, according to a spokesperson for Jordan’s Public Security Directorate (PSD).
Two other children from the same family, aged 2 and 3, suffered respiratory distress due to smoke inhalation. They were given first aid at the scene before being rushed to Al Tutanji and Al Bashir public hospitals. They are currently receiving medical care, the PSD added.

Fire and rescue teams from the East Amman Civil Defence Department responded immediately to the blaze, extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading further.
The apartment, located within the mosque complex, was fully engulfed in flames when emergency crew arrived, the spokesperson said.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
