Flights from India to remain suspended

Our Correspondent

The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has confirmed that inbound passenger traffic from India will remain suspended until further notice. Although there was an announcement about flights reopening for resident visa holders, various airlines had no updates on this matter.

Gulf News quoted a GCAA official as saying that the status quo remains as far as inbound passenger traffic from India is concerned. “We are closely monitoring the situation in India, and a decision on when to lift the suspension on inbound travellers will be taken keeping in mind the safety and security of all parties involved,” he said.

All inbound flights for national and international carriers coming from India were suspended from April 24. The travel suspension is for inbound transit passengers too except those on transit flights coming to the UAE and going to India. Only UAE nationals and diplomatic mission staff between the two countries, official delegations, businessmen’s planes and golden visa holders are excluded from the decision.

Meanwhile, UAE and Indian airlines are looking to resume flights from July 6 onwards, but have asked passengers to check for updates from the government authority.
