Farmers protesting as part of ‘Delhi Chalo’ march clashed with police at the borders facing tear gas and water canons along the Delhi-Haryana border. But they are now being escorted by the police to a protest site where they will continue demonstrating peacefully.
The Delhi Police on Friday allowed permission to farmers to peacefully protest at Nirankari Samagam Ground in Burari amid the Delhi Chalo march initiated against the farm laws.
Earlier in the day , the Delhi police used tear gas shells to disperse a group of farmers who had reached the Singhu border, while at Tigri border security personnel used water cannons to disperse farmers trying to enter the national capital. Farmers are agitating in tractor-trolleys laden with rations and essential for the march.
Farmers are protesting against the three laws — the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Service Act, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
