Our Correspondent

Airline ticket rates from India to the UAE skyrocketed to as much as Dh6,000 (Rs120,000) one way on April 23 ahead of the inbound travel suspension that will come into effect on April 24 from 11.59pm.

Emirates offers a breather for passengers
Dubai-based carrier has given two options to passengers whose travel plans have been affected by the new COVID 19 developments. They can keep the ticket and fly with Emirates within 36 months from the date of the original booking, or request a refund. These options apply if the ticket was booked before 1 April 2021 for travel on or before 31 December 2021.
All tickets issued from 1 April 2021 will be automatically valid for travel for 24 months. Within that time, passengers have the flexibility to change the dates and ask for a refund at no extra charge either online or through a travel agent.
Passengers can also change the destination in the same region and in the same travel class for no extra charge. For more details, visit the Emirates website.
Etihad and flydubai are also offering rebooking and cancellation options to passengers.
