Expat workforce in Oman shrinks by 1% in 2024, reports NCSI

MUSCAT : According to the latest data from the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of expat workers in Oman stood at 1,808,940 by the end of December 2024, compared to 1,827,248 workers at the end of December 2023. This represents a decrease of 18,308 workers or 1.0%.

The government sector witnessed the most significant drop, with expatriate employees declining by 3.1%. Their numbers fell from 44,178 in 2023 to 42,801 in 2024. In the private sector, the expat workforce dropped from 1,448,342 in 2023 to 1,427,363 in 2024, marking a 1.4% decrease.
