Electricity production in Oman increases by 7.6%

MUSCAT : Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah recorded a total production of 30,253.2 gigawatts per hour, recording an increase of 6.4 percent compared to the end of December 2023.

While the total production in Muscat Governorate decreased by 19.4 percent to reach 486.9 gigawatts per hour, it increased in Dhofar Governorate by 11.9 percent to reach 5679.7 gigawatts per hour.
Total production in North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates increased by 7.2 percent to reach 10,609.4 gigawatts per hour, while total production in Al Wusta Governorate decreased by 24.5 percent to reach 169.6 gigawatts per hour. In Musandam Governorate, total production increased by 6.6 percent to reach 503.8 gigawatts per hour.

Statistics indicated that the net electricity production of the Sultanate of Oman – which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and purchases by the Rural Areas Electricity Company according to regions – until the end of December 2024, increased by 7.2 percent to reach 46,813 gigawatts per hour.

On the other hand, statistics showed that the total amount of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman amounted to about 520,368,700 cubic meters by the end of December 2024, compared to 520,358,700 cubic meters during the same period in 2023.
