Election Commission names Sonu Sood as state icon of Punjab

The Election Commission of India, on November 16, named Sonu Sood as the state icon of Punjab. The Commission took this decision after keeping the actor’s growing popularity in mind.

Sonu Sood belongs to the Moga district of Punjab. The actor recently grabbed national attention for his works in helping migrants reach their homes during the coronavirus lockdown. During the coronavirus lockdown, the actor arranged travel facilities for migrant labourers who got stuck in various parts of the world during the time of lockdown.

Last July, Sonu Sood had revealed that he will be creating more than three lakh job opportunities and launched Pravasirojgar.com in this regard. In September, the actor was honored with the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award.

On the acting front, Sonu Sood will be next featured in the movie Prithviraj, which is being directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi. The film will have Akshay Kumar playing the role of Prithviraj Chauhan.

The film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release in Diwali 2020. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the production of the movie has been delayed.
