The possibility of re-opening educational institutions across the country was discussed at a meeting of the Education and Human Resources Council chaired by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
During the meeting, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, said that classes in general educational institutions, including re-opening of public and private universities and schools, will be possibly resumed in September after assessing the situation related to COVID-19, as well as precautionary measures and health requirements issued by authorities.
The Minister said that the health and safety of students were top priority, so educational institutions will re-open according to a plan and within the precautionary steps.
Al Hammadi assured the ministry would ensure the highest levels of protection and safety for students, teaching and administrative staff. Workers will be assisted in disinfecting educational institutions and vehicles nationwide according to instructions issued by the Health Ministry, the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority and WHO.
The Education and Human Resources Council commended the efforts by the Ministry of Education, educational bodies and teaching and administrative staff at government and private universities and schools. Students and their guardians were also praised for cooperating with the e-learning system.
