Dubai Police share security plan for Eid Al-Fitr holidays

Dubai: The Events Security Committee in Dubai, chaired by Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police, held a coordination meeting to review the security measures in place for the Eid Al-Fitr holidays.

The meeting included the directors of police stations, heads of security at malls and tourist sites, and committee members.

The committee presented a detailed security plan covering all major mosques and Eid prayer grounds, as well as roads, commercial centres, tourist hotspots, and open markets. Patrols will be deployed across key areas in coordination with the General Department of Traffic and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to ensure public safety, ease congestion, and maintain smooth traffic flow.

Major General Al Ghaithi revealed the operational readiness of force which will be deploying the following:

• 34 marine security boats
• Two helicopters
• 138 ambulances
• 10 marine rescue boats
• 51 bicycle patrols
• 471 police patrols
• 68 Civil Defence vehicles
• 24 small tow trucks
• 21 off-road rescue vehicles
• Five rapid response vehicles
• Five operations rooms

The transportation system will also be boosted with:

• 108 trains
• 13,912 luxury limousines
• 12,632 taxis
• 1,150 public buses
• 55 marine transport vehicles
• Five traffic diversion vehicles
• Seven control centres to monitor traffic and public transport movement

The Command and Control Centre is fully prepared to handle emergency calls 24/7 and ensure swift police response. The public is urged to dial 999 for emergencies and 901 for non-emergencies and use the “Police Eye” smart app to report violations or observations.
Safety appeals
Major General Al Ghaithi urged the public to adhere to speed limits and avoid reckless driving during the holiday, warning against the consequences of traffic accidents. He also advised jet ski users to avoid places where family gatherings are held along the beaches.
Beachgoers are reminded to keep a close eye on children near pools, beaches, and crowded areas, while off-road drivers and cyclists are asked to drive with caution, especially in desert areas.

Fireworks warning
Al Ghaithi also issued a warning to parents, urging them not to allow children to play with fireworks due to their potential to cause severe burns, permanent injuries, or fires that threaten both lives and property.

Community activities
As part of its inclusive approach, the Events Security Committee, Police Station Directors Council, and the Positive Spirit Council are organising sports tournaments in five key labour accommodation areas: Jebel Ali, Hor Al Anz, Al Satwa, Muhaisnah, and Al Quoz.

Volleyball, basketball, cricket, and tug-of-war competitions will take place from 4pm to 11pm on the first and second days of Eid, adding joy and positive energy to the celebrations.
