Dubai: The fireworks at the Burj Khalifa are among the most eagerly awaited celebrations for New Year’s Eve. To ensure the smooth running of the event and manage the large crowds expected, the Dubai Events Security Committee (ESC), along with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has devised a comprehensive traffic plan. If you plan to visit Downtown Dubai for New Year’s Eve, it is advisable to arrive before 4pm. Be sure to familiarise yourself with the road closures and public transport options that will be in place during this major event.
Road closures
The following road closures will be implemented to manage traffic during the New Year’s Eve celebrations:
Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard: Closed from 4pm once parking in the area reaches capacity. Visitors with reservations in the Boulevard area or Dubai Mall are advised to arrive before 4pm.
Burj Khalifa Street: Closed from 4pm.
Al Asayel Street: Closed from 4pm.
Lower Financial Centre Road: Closed from 4pm, with the upper deck of Financial Street closing at 9pm.
Al Mustaqbal Street: Closed from 4pm.
Al Sukook Street: Closed from 8pm.
Sheikh Zayed Road: Gradual closure starting from 11pm.
Dubai Metro
Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station: This station will remain closed until 5pm or until the number of passengers reaches its capacity.

Dubai Metro: The Red and Green Lines will operate continuously for 43 hours, covering all 53 stations, from 5am on Tuesday, 31 December until 12am on Thursday, 2 January 2025.
Dubai Tram: The tram service will operate continuously for 24 hours, from 6am on Tuesday, 31 December until 1am on Thursday, 2 January 2025.

Visitors are encouraged to utilise Metro stations with parking facilities:

Shuttle buses will provide free transport to and from these parking locations and the New Year’s Eve venue.

Free shuttle buses will be available to ensure smooth departure from Burj Khalifa following the event. Public buses will also transport commuters to Metro stations, Dubai taxi parking areas, and alternative parking sites.

Free public viewing areas for Burj Khalifa fireworks
Public viewing areas in Downtown Dubai offer family-friendly spaces to enjoy the New Year’s Eve fireworks for free, available on a first-come, first-served basis. LED screens along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will broadcast the live fireworks and entertainment.
