Crown Prince of Ajman visits the Culture of Woven Treasures Museum for luxury handwoven carpets

Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, visited the Culture of Woven Treasures museum for rare Persian carpets at the Ajman Hotel. The exhibition, organised by the Ghanbarinia family, founders of Heritage Carpets, is being held under the theme Islamic Art from Centuries Past. The museum is unique, showcasing antique Persian carpets of museum-quality craftsmanship, making it one of the largest museums for luxury handwoven carpets globally. Some carpets on display date back to the 17th and 18th centuries.

Through the exhibition, Heritage Carpets aims to cultivate an appreciation for the Islamic art of luxury carpets, which once adorned the palaces and chambers of kings, sultans, presidents, princes, and art lovers, and today are rare artefacts in global museums
The museum features over 4,000 exquisite, rare, and luxurious Persian carpets valued at over one billion dirhams. These pieces are not for sale but displayed for public viewing. Heritage Carpets aims to cultivate an appreciation for the Islamic art of luxury carpets, which once adorned the palaces and chambers of kings, sultans, presidents, princes, and art lovers, and today are rare artifacts in global museums, both Eastern and Western. The museum’s collection, which represents elegance and tradition, offers an extraordinary visual and aesthetic experience with the beauty of handwoven Persian carpets.

Each carpet tells a story, some rooted in reality and others woven from captivating imagination, showcasing a rich history and intricate craftsmanship that spans 2,500 years of ancient art.

Amir Ghanbarinia, CEO of Heritage Carpets, commended the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, and Shaikh Ammar, in driving the emirate’s economic growth and elevating investment, tourism, and business sectors, thus paving the way for new horizons in modern life. He also praised the Ruler’s unwavering support for cultural development and modern education within the emirate, based on the latest global systems and programmes.
Ghanbarinia emphasised that the handwoven carpet industry aligns with the UAE’s sustainability vision, focusing on a future that considers the economic, social and environmental impact. Heritage Carpets is committed to achieving a zero carbon footprint in its operations, ensuring that no carbon units are used. The exhibition also aligns with Ajman’s Vision 2030 to become a centre for arts and culture, with a focus on preserving, highlighting and developing cultural heritage while supporting community participation in artistic and cultural activities.

Ghanbarinia added that the exhibition features an exceptional collection of meticulously preserved, handwoven Persian carpets. Each piece tells a story of craftsmanship and cultural heritage spanning centuries, making this one of the largest and most significant carpet exhibitions in the world, both in terms of the number and value of the pieces on display. The exhibition is designed to be educational and informative.

Heritage Carpets operates 86 branches in 29 countries and has held numerous exhibitions worldwide since its establishment in 1841, making it one of the oldest institutions in the world still actively involved in the trade of authentic Persian carpets.
