COVID-19 India: Lowest number of new cases after two months

At least half of the country’s 1.3 billion people are likely to get infected with the novel coronavirus by February 2021. This help slow the spread of the disease, a member of a central government committee tasked with providing projections said on Monday.

After a spike in covid-19 cases for two months, India has reported less than 50,000 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. India on Tuesday added 46,791 fresh coronavirus cases taking the total tally to 75,97,064. In the past 24 hours, 587 coronavirus positive patients have succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll in the country to 1,15,197.

India has also seen a dip in the active cases, with a total of 23,517 since Monday (October 19). There are a total of 7,48,538 active cases in India and 67,33,329 people have recovered from the disease.

The overall number of global coronavirus cases has increased to 40.3 million, while the deaths have soared to 1,117,430, according to the Johns Hopkins University. As of Tuesday morning, the total number of cases stood at 40,333,146, the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.The US is the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 8,210,849 and 220,095, respectively, according to the CSSE.
