COVID-19 confirmed in 4,287 in Kerala on Oct. 26; 7,107 people cured

While 4,287 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala on October 26, 3,711 people were infected through contact and the source of infection was unknown for 471. There are 53 healthcare workers among those infected. At the same time, 7,107 patients have recovered from the disease, according to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Twenty recent deaths were confirmed as being caused by COVID taking the count of related deaths in the State to 1,352. Prashanth Kumar (55) and Anthony Danish (37) from Alappuzha district, Vidyadharan (75) from Kottayam district, Siddique (62) from Ernakulam district; Rosy (84), Velayudhan (80) and Mary (62) from Thrissur district, Chandrasekharan (53) from Palakkad district, Abdulla Kutty (85) from Malappuram district, Karthayaini Amma (89) from Kozhikode district; Mariam (85), Hamsa (62), Mathai (71), Abdul Rahman (89) and Aleyamma (78) from Wayanad district; Hamsa (75), Mammuhaji (90) and Jayarajan (62) from Kannur district, and Chomu (63) & Muhammad Kunhi (72) from Kasargod district, were the deceased.

The district-wise figures for the new positive cases are Malappuram 853, Thiruvananthapuram 513, Kozhikode 497, Thrissur 480, Ernakulam 457, Alappuzha 332, Kollam 316, Palakkad 276, Kottayam 194, Kannur 174, Idukki 79, Kasaragod 64, Wayanad 28 and Pathanamthitta 24. Of those diagnosed today, 52 have travelled to the state from outside.

The numbers of the locally transmitted cases from the districts are Malappuram 813, Thiruvananthapuram 359, Kozhikode 470, Thrissur 469, Ernakulam 337, Alappuzha 312, Kollam 310, Palakkad 164, Kottayam 186, Kannur 131, Idukki 63, Kasargod 59, Wayanad 21 and Pathanamthitta 17.

The count of the infecte healthcare workers from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 14, Kannur 9, Ernakulam 8, Kozhikode 6, Thrissur 5, Kottayam and Malappuram 3 each, and Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kasaragod one each.

The district-wise numbers of the patients who tested negative were Thiruvananthapuram 747, Kollam 722, Pathanamthitta 180, Alappuzha 497, Kottayam 191, Idukki 66, Ernakulam 1,096, Thrissur 723, Palakkad 454, Malappuram 1,002, Kozhikode 1,023, Wayanad 107, Kannur 97 and Kasargod 202.

So far, a total of 3,02,017 people have been cured of Coronavirus infection in the State while there are 93,744 patients still undergoing treatment.

There were 2,83,473 people under isolation across the State, 2,60,675 under home or institutional quarantine and 22,798 in hospitals. 2,974 persons were hospitalised today.

35,141 samples were tested during the last 24 hours while a total of 43,63,557 samples have so far been sent for testing.

Ninteen new places were demarcated as hotspots even as five areas were excluded. There were 682 hotspots in Kerala now.
