COVID-19 confirmed in 3,527 people in Kerala on Dec.26; 3,782 cured

COVID-19 was confirmed in 3,527 cases in Kerala on December 26. The disease was reported in Kozhikode 522, Malappuram 513, Ernakulam 403, Thrissur 377, Kollam 361, Alappuzha 259, Kottayam 250, Thiruvananthapuram 202, Pathanamthitta 177, Palakkad 156, Kannur 120, Wayanad 68, Idukki 67 and Kasaragod 52 districts.

A total of 35,586 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.91. A total of 76,49,001 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

Twenty-one deaths in the last few days were confirmed as due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 2,951. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Sixty-three of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State. A total of 3,106 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 324 is not clear. Kozhikode 487, Malappuram 493, Ernakulam 335, Thrissur 350, Kollam 353, Alappuzha 245, Kottayam 228, Thiruvananthapuram 145, Pathanamthitta 165, Palakkad 56, Kannur 85, Wayanad 62, Idukki 64 and Kasaragod 38 were affected by the disease.

The disease affected 34 health workers. Thrissur 14, Ernakulam 8, Kannur 5, Thiruvananthapuram 3, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad 1 each were the number of health workers affected by the disease.

The test results of 3,782 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 221, Kollam 192, Pathanamthitta 268, Alappuzha 356, Kottayam 413, Idukki 54, Ernakulam 432, Thrissur 391, Palakkad 297, Malappuram 465, Kozhikode 356, Wayanad 109, Kannur 209 and Kasaragod 19 were found to be negative. With this, 63,752 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. A total of 6,68,733 have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 2,59,083 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,45,823 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,260 in hospitals. A total of 1,061 people were admitted to hospitals. There are no new hotspots and no area was excluded from the hotspot. There are currently a total of 463 hotspots.
