COVID-19 confirmed for 2,154 people in Kerala on Aug. 30; 1,766 were cured

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 2,154 people in Kerala on August 30, according to Health Minister K.K. Shailaja.
Seven deaths have been confirmed as due to COVID-19. Sanathandas (49), a guest worker from West Bengal, who died on August 26, Anandan (64), a native of Kannur; Anamma (90), a native of Iritti, Kannur, who died on August 24, Palayyan (64), a native of Parasala, Thiruvananthapuram, Ammini (63), a native of Avinisseri, Thrissur, who died on August 27; The deceased have been identified as Subair Muhammad Kunhi, (40) of Chandragiri, Kasaragod, who died on August 17, and Chandran(66) of Kozhikode, who died on August 23. This brings the total death toll to 287. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

The district-wise breakup of the infected are 310 people from Thiruvananthapuram district, 304 people from Kozhikode district, 231 people from Ernakulam district, 223 people from Kottayam district, 195 people from Malappuram district, 159 people from Kasaragod district, 151 each from Kollam and Thrissur districts, 133 people from Pathanamthitta district; 112 people from Kannur district, 92 people from Alappuzha district, 45 people from Palakkad district, 35 people from Idukki district and 13 people from Wayanad district.

Of those diagnosed on the day, 49 came from foreign countries and 110 from other states while 1,962 people contracted the disease through contact. Thirty-three health workers are affected by the disease. The test results of 1,766 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative.
There are currently 1,99,468 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. A total of 2378 people were admitted to the hospital today.

During the last 24 hours, 27,908 samples were tested. A total of 16,69,779 samples have so far been sent for testing. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 1,78,053 samples were sent for testing from priority groups such as health workers, guest workers, and individuals with greater social contact.
There are 14 new hotspots.
