COVID-19 cases in Kerala above 100 for second day

For the second day in a row, Kerala reported over 100 fresh COVID-19 cases. While it was 111 on  June 5,  its highest single day hike since the first virus in India was found in students who returned from Wuhan in China to Kerala on January 30, it was 108 on June 6

Hamsakoya, 61, from Parappanangadi, who was undergoing treatment at Malappuram district of Kerala, died on the morning of June 6.

Ninteen people from Kollam, 16 from Thrissur, 12 each from Malappuram and Kannur, 11 from Palakkad, 10 from Kasargod and nine from Pathanamthitta and four each from Alappuzha and Kozhikode districts, three patients each from from Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki and Ernakulam districts and two from Kottayam were confirmed positive with the virus.

Meanwhile, the test results of 50 people who were diagnosed with the disease were negative. Thirty-five persons from Palakkad, 7 from Kozhikode (6 Air India employees), 6 from Ernakulam (two from Kollam), five from Kannur and one each from Idukki and Kasaragod districts were negative.

So far 1,029 people have been diagnosed with the disease. 762 people have so far been released from COVID-19.

A total of 1,79,294 people arrived in the state, including 43,901 through the airport, 1,621 through the seaport, 1,17,232 by check post and 16,540 by rail.

A total of 1,83,097 people are being observed in different districts of the state. Of these, 1,81,482 are under house / institutional quarantine and 1615 are in hospitals. 284 people were admitted to the hospital on June 6.

Over the past 24 hours, 3,903 samples have been sent for inspection. So far, a sample of 81,517 individuals (including the augmented sample) has been sent for inspection. Of these the test results were negative for 77,517 samples.

Of the 20,769 samples collected from priority groups, such as individuals with social contact, 19,597 samples were negative. A total of 1,07,796 samples were examined, including 5,510 repeat samples.

On June 6, there are 10 new hot spots. The new hot spots are Puthiyaparayam, Palakkad district, Kannadi, Vandazhi, Vadakkanchery, Pookkottukavu, Tenkara, Pirai, Kollengode, Neendakara in Kollam district and Olavanna in Kozhikode district. As of now, there are 138 hot spots in total.
