The Coast Guard, Coastal Security Force and the Marine Enforcement have been directed to prevent boats and country boats from leaving for Tamil Nadu or come from that State in an effort to stem the spread of COVID-19 among the people in Poonthura, in the coastal belt of Thiruvananthapuram, according to a police press release.
Directions have been issued to ensure strict triple lockdown in Poonthura. Twenty-five SAP commandos with SAP command-in-charge L. Solomon heading the team have been deployed for special duty in the area. Deputy Commissioner of Police Divya Gopinath and Assistant Commissioner Aishwarya Dogre are in charge of the security in the area. ADGP Dr. Sheikh Darwesh Will oversee the arrangements, the press release issued by Deputy Director of the State Police Media Centre V.P. Pramod Kumar said.
Social and political leaders would be roped in to create awareness among the community members on observing social distancing in the area. Police vehicles will also be used to create awareness through loudspeakers in the area,
It would be ensured that people do not travel between Thiruvananthapuram and Kanyakumari by the police of both Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
